Probably one of the most important places to clean in you bathroom is in your shower especially around corner shower pans. Overtime, shower grout can become especially dirty. Shower mold and mildew can grow in dark damp places and become an eyesore to your bathroom if they are not properly taken care of. Grout and tile cleaning in these areas is very important. The more able you are to take care of your tile and clean it on a regular basis, the less likely this is to happen. Not only will regular cleaning help keep your grout and tile looking its best, but it will also help it last longer. A few tips for better tile and grout maintenance are as follows:
1)Before you start scrubbing the tile and grout, spray the shower with a tile cleaner at least 15 minutes in advance. This will help disinfect the grout as well as breaking down unsightly mold and mildew. Pre-spraying the grout will also help to dislodge dirt and help to restore the grout back to its original color. There are many different products available, try to pick good quality mold removal products and not the cheapest you can find – it will pay off!
2)Next, use a brush to scrub out the grout and tile. On a floor, it may be a good idea to use a deck brush and a pole. This will help keep you from hurting your back. After scrubbing it, you will want to wipe it clean or else rinse and dry it, depending on how dirty it is. Use your shower attatchment to hose everything down fully – rain shower heads are great foe this as they fully drench the whole shower area.
3)Something else that will make it easier for you to rinse and clean tile is to rinse and clean it while you are taking a shower. This should give the reagent or tile cleaner plenty of time to react. In addition, it also makes it a lot easier to rinse. If you do this, please avoid using harsh chemicals that can damage your skin. When you are done, rinse it off and dry thoroughly with a damp rag or a towel.
